Itineraries built by locals to help you discover the best in St. Cloud.

We can all admit to getting a little stir-crazy during the winter months. For those weekends when you simply need to get out of the house, but you want to stay warm and close to home, we’ve got you covered with three local INDOOR staycation ideas for the family, your significant other or all your girlfriends.

Fun for the family

A good day starts with a full belly, so plan to kick off your Saturday in Greater St. Cloud by heading to The Crooked Pint Ale House – because what kid doesn’t love peanut butter stuffed french toast? You’ll probably feel like burning some energy (and calories), so once your meal is settled, make AirMaxx Trampoline Park your next stop.

Cool down afterward with a visit to Art As You Like It, where each kid and parent can pick out their very own project to work on, from ceramic to beaded jewelry. And since you’re probably craving lunch by now, it’s a good thing that   Ko-Z’s Eats & Sweets is close by. With a large, kid-friendly menu of fresh soups, salads, sandwiches, paninis, and of course, sweets, everyone will find something to satisfy.

Next up, it’s time to relax at Marcus Parkwood Cinema! With every theater full of dream loungers, it’s a chance for the kiddos to catch the latest kid-flick, and maybe for mom and dad to take a snooze – hey, it’s probably a matinee, anyway.

After the movie is over, check into the Holiday Inn for the night. Built with families in mind, the hotel features two full size pools, a wading pool, two volleyball courts, two basketball courts, and a kid’s play gym, making it the perfect place to spend your afternoon and evening. Book a poolside room so that you can kick back while watching the kids swim from your patio door.

The adjoining restaurant will make dinner plans easy, should you lose all motivation to venture out. Although, if a second-wind arises, Chuck E. Cheese’s is just down the road and packed with fun arcade games and pizza.

Romance is in the air

Kick off your romantic getaway with a handcrafted drink and two breakfast sandwiches from Central Cafe, as you watch the hustle and bustle of St. Germain Street outside. Take a stroll down the street after you’ve finished your breakfast and head over to Books Revisited, where you can hunt for treasured classics in the rows upon rows of secondhand books.

Then put your layers on and head down to the Lake George skating rink. Rent your skates from the warming house, and spend some time cruising around the manicured skating rink on the picturesque lake in downtown St. Cloud, like some kind of Hallmark-movie superstars.

Need a little something to warm the soul after your time outdoors? There’s nothing more warmth-restoring than a huge bowl of soup. Discover the soup de jour, along with other local pub grub favorites at Jimmy’s Pour House in Sauk Rapids.

Once you’ve regained feeling in your fingers and toes and stuffed your belly with all the classics, venture over to Relax and Revive Massage for a couple’s massage of your choice. Afterward, make your way to Beaver Island Brewing Company for a whole different kind of relaxation. Enjoy a flight of brews, light snacks, a game of cribbage and great company.

Worked up an appetite yet? Hope so, because you want to be able to enjoy every bite of food from Sawatdee. Fresh spring rolls for two, curry fried rice and pad thai to share, an order of Geong Khi Mao just because, and maybe even Sawatdee Sundae nightcap.

If you can bring yourself to roll on out of there, you’ve got tickets to the latest GREAT Theater production at the Paramount! Get there early enough to enjoy the art gallery and grab a drink, and then marvel at the gem that is this historic downtown theater.

After the show, finish your romantic evening with a glass of wine at The White Horse, then make your way to the Best Western Kelly Inn. Good thing you reserved a top-floor room – that view of the Mississippi River is going to be spectacular at sunrise.

Girlfriend getaway

Facebook Me & My Girls – And Our Guy

Start your day of pampering with an indulgent cup of coffee and a breakfast pizza or two to share from Jules’ Bistro. Then don’t be late for your pallet painting class at MMG Workshop, where the hardest part of your time there will be choosing which design to bring to life. You’ve worked hard, so you deserve some relaxing. Good thing you made an appointment for manicures at Mantra Salon & Spa.

Then, it’s time lunch at Kohinoor Bar & Grill, where the answer to “Would you like naan with that?” is always “Yes, please.” And, now, finally – you knew this was coming – it’s time to SHOP. Head west to “repurposed row,” where you’ll find gorgeous, unique home decor at Modern Barnyard, the perfect corner curio for your living room at Salvage Sisters and antique wine glasses you didn’t know you needed until now at Rusty Pick.

Make your way back east, stopping at Evelie Blu boutique along the way to update your winter wardrobe. Once you make it downtown, stroll the busy streets through local shops like Copper Pony, Bumbledees, and Rush. Finish your marathon shop at Margo Mundi’s in Sauk Rapids, where the blazer you’ve been searching for just happens to live. There’s just something magical about shopping small!

Once you’ve worked up an appetite again from all that retail therapy, mosey on over to Old Capital Tavern and grab a big table. Order apps, try some tap beer, dabble with the wine list and eat to your heart’s content. And when that mission has been accomplished, get ready to work it off with a dance session at Pioneer Place on Fifth, where there’s live local music nearly every night of the weekend.

As the final songs plays, make your way out and down the street to the Courtyard by Marriott, where you’ve all decided to share a huge suite for the night. Sounds like a girls’ day to remember!

No matter how you spend your staycation in Greater St. Cloud, we hope you have an amazing time filled with making memories that last forever! Remember, use #VisitStCloud to share all of your staycation experiences with us. See you here!
